Roundhay Park
One of Leeds largest parks, Roundhay Park is 700 acres of open space just three miles from the city centre.

Golden Acre Park
Situated five miles from the city centre on the Otley Road, this is a colourful garden with azaleas and rhododendrons in late summer. The gardens are also home to the nations largest collection of heathers.

Kirkstall Abbey
Set in attractive grounds on the banks of the River Aire, Kirkstall Abbey is surrounded by daffodils and narcissi in early spring. The ruined Abbey, three miles from the city centre was much admired by Turner the artist. The Abbey was founded in 1152 by Cistercian monks. Nearby the Abbey House Museum has innovative displays and three recreated Victorian streets.

Temple Newsham House
The Hampton Court of the North dating from the C16th and C17th the house was the birthplace of Lord Darnley. 4 miles from Leeds city centre, the house enjoys views over parkland designed by Capability Brown. The walled gardens are a riot of colour in the rhododendron season while the house itself boasts a fine collection of Chippendale furniture and Leeds pottery.

St Johns Gardens
Just off New Briggate are St Johns Gardens with its rich floral displays. Park Square is a local favourite, south west of the Town Hall along Park Square East.

City Square
Situated right in the city centre is the newly restored City Square. Here you will find sculptures of Morn and Eve by Alfred Drury who fashioned Eros in Piccadilly Circus, London.

Royal Armouries The Waterfront, Leeds
Along the waterfront from Tetleys Brewery Wharf development are the superb Royal Armouries, a purpose-built museum displaying over 8 000 exhibits from 3000 years of conflict

Armley Mills Industrial Museum
The Museum shows all the stages of woollen production from sheep to clothing.THE ARTS
